A brief overview of the historical development of democracy
Is Democracy the simplest sort of Government?
The root of the word "democracy" means "rule of the people" and comes from a general Greek word for the form of government originally practiced in Athens in the 5th century BC. Popular ideas tend to have their own opposition. The current popular notion of democracy, which is almost universal, is used by almost three-fifths of the world's states and is poised to spread among the remaining two-fifths by many major movements.
First, Democracy is fair because it gives people the liberty to settle on who will govern themselves. Other systems; monarchy, dictatorship, theocracy, etc. it doesn't allow anyone aside from the tribe or family of a specific group to possess a say within the administration. Democracy allows for healthy change of individuals and groups who govern. Other sorts of governments, like the monarchy, cause War and bloody acts among those that think they need a right to leadership. Most of the time, this results in war.
Second, democracy provides transparent governance and control by preventing corruption. Opposition groups attempt to gain an area within the limelight by sharing their opponents, namely the mistakes or wrongs of power, with the public and Broadcasting bodies. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to realize this level of accountability in democracies that became one party and dictate regimes.
Third, democratic systems rarely attend wars. Because politicians want the support of the overwhelming majority of the people. Democracy reinforces the sense of belonging within the people. Because the people have the proper to be elected, they will run elections, and thus people have an understanding of owning their homeland. The right to settle on gives rise to the proper to legislate over the elected person and governments. Choosing people or political groups who want to be leaders is entirely within the hands of the people. This creates a political balance.
Finally, democracy offers people the opportunity to be governed without a king or queen at their head, it does not see people as ordinary people like other forms of government, it sees them as part of the government.
